Assignment 6
My Plan
I am not exactly sure what I will shoot for this assignment, I am hoping to get more landscapes so I will try to shoot some landscapes.
My Shoot
I wanted to take photos of landscapes this shoot, but that didn't work out as planned. I didn't want to have 20 photos that were nearly identical. So, I added some photos of my sister...again. I plan to edit 4 photos of landscape though and make my final piece a landscape. I do really like how these turned out though. I love the way the snow and the trees look. The sky is a little blue but I can fix that. I really love the way the clouds look also. It was so cold for this shoot, it was 19 degrees. But, I like how you can almost see the cold in the air.
My Edits
I really love my edits for this shoot. In game "Have You Thought About" a lot of people said to put nude filters over the photo. So, I found this filter in Lightroom called "Aged Photo" and I put it on all of these photos and then turned the yellow hue differently for all of them. I also played with the highlights in these photos. I really love how they do look old, I think it looks super cool. I am not quite sure which one is my favorite yet but I am leaning towards the one of Carter jumping, or the one of the house on the hill. I like the other two but not as much. I think I will use this editing technique in my next shoot too.
Final
This final photo accomplishes the theme of my portfolio. It is tan colored like the rest of my photos. You see a cabin on the snowy hillside. The cabin is surrounded by trees and there is an old fence going through the bottom of the property. There is on pop of color where there are Christmas lights. An element of art in this photo is space. Space can be seen because of the dip in the field and then upward motion of driveway to the cabin. This is important in this photo because then it is not just a photo of a cabin; it adds a more outdoor vibe. A principle of design in this photo is variety. Variety can be seen because there are many different items in this photo like: a field, a fence, trees, the driveway, the cabin, the snow, and the grass peeking out from the snow. This is important because it keeps the photo interesting, even though it looks like there is not much going on. The theme of this photo is to match my portfolio by keeping the tan theme. This photo does stay with that theme because I edited with the filter "Old Photo" and changed the yellow hues. The mood of this photo is supposed to be calming and peaceful. The cabin is supposed to resemble home and prove the peaceful mood.
