Assignment 4
My Plan
I will be in Phoenix this weekend, so I am going to take some pictures of the desert and maybe some buildings/architecture or landscape.
My Shoot
For my shoot I was in the campground at Lake Pleasant. My camera wasn't working very well, the auto zoom is not working. I took as many photos as I could. I tried to stay with my neutral theme but there was a lot of green. I don't love all my pictures but that's okay. I am going back to Phoenix soon so I can redeem myself. I ended up taking pictures of the rocks because it was the most tan thing there. I did have fun taking these photos though because I love Lake Pleasant. I just got a little frustrated because of my focus.
My Edits
I really like how my edits turned out. I kept them super low contrast and I really like the way it looks. I tried to keep the blue in the sky as pale as possible. I edited these four mostly the same but I think they follow my theme pretty well. I don't like the photo of the rocks as much but it follows my theme the most. I really like how these photos look old.
Final
This photo was taken in the campground we were staying in. It is a picture of the cactus on the hillside and you can see some of the road. It is a very unsaturated photo, but it goes with the neutral theme. An element of art in this photo is texture. Texture can be seen all along the hillside because of the cactuses and plants. The rock to the right also adds texture. A principle of design in this photo is unity. Unity can be seen because the desert ecosystem is unified in this photo. With the dirt, the hills, the cactuses and other plants. Also, there is a sense of unity because the camp ground is living there with the desert and they are mutually existing. The element that gives away that there is a camp ground is the road, but the road blends in pretty well. The idea was to get a really awesome desert picture, but that didn't really happen because of my camera. I like the way this one turned out but it could be better. The mood in this photo is very calm because of the little saturation. Overall, I like this photo, but I know I could have done better. I plan to do better next time I am in Phoenix.
